Primarily a printmaker and draftsman, Ira F. Cummings’s work explores form, color and texture within an abstract framework. His most recent work consists of monotypes from wood blocks and stencils, as well as large scale drawings. His prints utilize an intimate scale as well as iconic compositions to create a balance of anarchic complexity and careful order. His drawings, in contrast, focus on expressive mark making in a less restrained manner.
